What information will I find on the database?

The information that you will find on the eSAY database comes from the eSAY National Learning Disability and Autistic Spectrum Disorder Dataset V4.0. You can get either a copy that you can print on this page or you can look at the dataset on the website. We also have a dataset map, this is a simple picture that shows all the items that are collected and where they can be found in the dataset.

The dataset has six sections and contains information that will help us to monitor the progress in implementing “The same as you?”. These sections give information about the types of needs that people have and whether they are being met, information about health and housing.

When you search the database, you will find statistical information about learning disability and autistic spectrum disorder. Statistical information is numbers that tell you what is happening in an area. You will not find information about any one person. We have taken great care and built in lots of security to make sure that no one could find out information about an individual from the database. We don’t collect information about individuals.

We want to make sure that people’s privacy is protected at all times. So even though we don’t have information about individuals, we have put in extra measures to make sure that people cannot be identified from the information. For example, if you enter a very specific question and the number of matches is too small, the database will not answer your question. It will tell you that your search is too narrow and ask you to try again.
